Louise, a veterinary student at Stara Zagora university, often responds to requests to help dogs in the Stara Zagora city region and one of those call outs resulted in finding an absolutely desperate situation.

Louise was asked to help feed several dogs that are living on the edge of the city. She went along with another organisation to see the situation. There are over 20 dogs, many are young females either already pregnant or with puppies, there are skeletal dogs, dogs with mange, dumped dogs…….the municipality shelter has been asked to help on several occasions from what we can gather and will hopefully now start to dart and castrate some of the dogs…….. It is a dumping ground for unwanted dogs, that then breed indiscriminately, one even has a collar and when the owner was contacted he just said oh he had lost dog several weeks ago….no interest in taking the dog back….

For now we have provided food donations. But we need funds for simparica treatment for mange, castrations and spays and ideally homes for any of the dogs – foster or permanent. Many of these dogs will not survive the winter.
