Dumped Puppies Everywhere

It is unfortunately that time of year when there are puppies being dumped everywhere. It was around this time last year we found 4 little souls dumped in the middle of a busy road. And this year is now different.

Around 10 days ago, driving  out the village we saw two young gypsy boys carrying a puppy and a sack. We slowed down and saw another puppy on the edge of the road. We stopped and scooped up that little mite and confronted the gypsy lads, checking there were no pups in the sack. They refused to hand over the other pup and did not know where the mum dog was, having just found the pup. They then ran off into the gypsy ghetto with the pup they had and we took little ‘Billy’ home.

The next day driving along a small road out of the next door village, a tiny little thing was running down the middle of the road. As soon as I got close I saw it was an incredibly small little puppy, clearly just taken from its mum and dumped in the middle of no-where. So little Danny also came home.

Two days later driving along the same road I spotted 3 small puppies on the grass on the side of the road and not 200 metres further on another 3 slightly larger puppies. Not able to collect all 6 puppies at once I returned home and went back better prepared. However, the 3 larger puppies had disappeared, hopefully taken by someone else. I collected the 3 little ones from the grass verge and Polly, Eric & Henry came home to ours.

All puppies are now doing well.  Billy has very bad skin and some sore patches. All puppies have been tested for parvo-virus which was luckily negative. And they have been wormed and treated for fleas.

All 5 will be searching for homes in due course.

UPDATE: Billy went to a new home in the north of England but unfortunately he has grown a bit to big for the household and a change in work circumstances means they are now searching for a new home for him.

Danny found an amazing home and is doing well with his puppy training.

Unfortunately little Eric never thrived and died in the summer from complications with his bowels. His brother Henry went to the UK with a volunteer that came over to help with a partner rescue. He is now also looking for a new home. Polly stayed in Bulgaria and is currently living with a friend.
